The Hayden Side
In June, when Brian graduated, we had the blessing of having family come to visit and help us celebrate. Generously, we were all taken out to a delicious and wonderful meal at a Turkish restaurant. It was here, that I realized something. There is a streak of something crazy that runs deep within the Hayden side. I've always suspected, having lived with my own personal Hayden for 18 years now. However, as we spent time together with a whole bunch of Hayden, the truth became glaringly obvious.
For this special celebration we had "the siblings" together...that would be, George Hayden (Brian's Dad & middle child), Phyllis Hayden (Aunt & oldest sister), and Steve Hayden (Uncle & biggest baby). Here, you see the two brothers donning cloth napkins in the latest summer fashions. This spurred a following by my lovely children, and of course, the hubster.

As you can see, the spoon balancing chromosome has been passed down through the Hayden genes. Laura (Brian's sister & Ethan), have learned well from their respective parents. Although, I'm not sure if this means there is hope for the next generation or not?
There's no mistaking the look of pride on Brian's face as Emily demonstrates her natural spoon balancing abilities. A demonstration of the rising up of future generations of Hayden spoon balance-rs. Here is history in the making. Would it surprise you to know that the Hayden Family Crest has silver spoons in it? ! Not really, I just made that up...and I bet you believed me too! Maybe I should make one...hmmm.
And here is boring old me. No napkins, no spoons. Just me taking a picture with two youngest kids trying to smile like Wallace of Wallace & Grommit. Clearly, Titus has a handle on the imitation of this smile. Sorry, I don't do any tricks here. I just sat with my humidified hairdo, and watched, and laughed.
After all, I'm only a Hayden by marriage and the Thatcher genes that I've got would never do anything crazy. I'm always very serious in nature, just like my Dad.

And by all means, if you've already got a cloth napkin on your head...shouldn't you also have a weird look on your face to go with it? Don't do anything half way. Way to be a team player, Sophie!
Aunt Linda, manages, in the midst of this craziness to maintain her composure while still enjoying the revelry. Since this craziness trait is inborn, this is understandable, and appreciated. We need someone to exemplify sanity in our family gatherings.
After the conclusion of the Napkin Fashion Show, the war of the Spoon Balancers began. Here you can see the complex Double Drooper Spoon Balance that was achieved by Uncle Steve (or "Steven" as Aunt Linda calls him when he's in trouble). Notice the extreme face of competition that George (dad) is sporting as he prepares to WOW the crowd with his Spoon balancing prowess.
This picture makes me laugh...that face makes me laugh. Ha! How can one family house SO MUCH talent?!
