Something Yummy For Your Tummy-- Pizza Edition
Well, around this house we like pizza and not only that, it takes a lot of pizza to feed all these little chillern!
Occasionally, we buy pizza, usually from Papa Murphy's Take and Bake store since its sooo yummy and inexpensive too!
However, the kids and I like to have our own "Pizza Night" once in a while. . Its taken some practice but we've finally come up with a recipe that works for us and doesn't make us wish we'd made something else. No complaints from the starving children.
Here's our recipe, if you'd like to give it a try!
Big Blue Pizza
Makes 1 Rectangle Pizza (17.25 X 11.5 X 1 in.)
and 1 Large Round Pizza (15 in. diameter)
Crust:
- 2 pkg. Yeast
- 2 T. Sugar or 1 T. Honey
- 2 c. Warm Water
- 2 T. Olive Oil
- 5 c. Flour
- 2 t. Salt
- 1/2 t. Garlic Powder
Toppings:
- Favorite Spaghetti Sauce (we freeze leftover sauce from meals to use for pizza sauce)
- 1 lb. Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- Your choice of toppings... Toppings pictured here...bacon (Aldi bacon bits), pineapple tidbits
- Parmesan Cheese and chopped Parsley sprinkled on top.
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 500 degrees... yes, really (No, this is not a typo)
- Grease pizza pans, set aside.
- Combine first 4 ingredients in mixing bowl. Let stand 5 minutes.
- Attach dough hook and add remaining ingredients.
- Mix dough on medium speed for 5-7 minutes or until dough is combined into a nice ball on hook. ( If dough doesn't form a ball add a tablespoon or two of flour at a time until consistency becomes more firm. )
- Let rest in bowl, covered, for 10 min.
- Divide dough and press into prepared pizza pans.
- Add toppings (Sauce, cheese, additional toppings, ending with Parm. cheese & Parsley)
- Bake approx. 8- 10 minutes or until it looks like pizza! *Because you're cooking at such a high heat, it is a good idea NOT to leave the room at this point. Nobody likes burnt pizza.
- Let stand in pan approx. 5 minutes before cutting... just try and hold back the starving masses.
- Pray and Eat!!
That looks fantastic! Love the pineapple on there. Thanks for linking up to Made From Scratch Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI love pizza! My mom actually gives every new bride a pizza pan, a pizza cutter and a recipe. I use mine alot! You mom-in-law hooked me up with you. We met once, you know my husband from highschool days. I am happy to read your history and get to know you better, BTW I still have the glue stick you gave us way back when my eldest was just a baby!
