A couple of weeks ago, Sophie and Brian went on a "date". Sophie does so much to help out around the house that I sometimes feel lost when she's not around! During our recent bout of the plague she was the only one who stayed healthy! She was content and pleased as punch to be the resident caregiver to all. It is her nature to be the helper and I am sooo thankful! I need all the help I can get!
Sooo, when we found out that the Lippazaner Stallions were going to be nearby, Brian scored some tickets and cooked up a plan to take Super Sophie on a well deserved night out! Sophie was beyond thrilled as she LOVES (loves, loves) horses!!
They also went out to eat at a Mediterranean restaurant that was near the venue. Sophie loves to eat, though you can't tell by lookin' at her! Ever since she was little she's always been the kid who would wake up in the morning and before she did anything she always asked "What's for breakfast?" And a few hours later..."What's for lunch?" ...and then, "Can I have a snack?". Even when playing Legos with her brothers..."Let's stop...my guys need some lunch." I don't know exactly what is pictured here, but its some sort of kebab, chicken, lamb, lamb thingy with rice and veggies. Maybe I should've asked for more specifics before I wrote this. You get the basic idea, right? They ate out. It was good.
After they ate, they headed for the show!!
A brief history of what makes these horses so special...Primarily appearing in history in a military capacity, It is believed that the forerunner to the Lipizzan was bred in Carthage, more than 2,000 years ago. It was bred with another horse and they became the "Andalusian" that Spain is famous for....fast forward a few hundred years and think "Napoleon Bonaparte" and that famous white horse you see him on ...fast forward again....and they got bred with some other horses...some more years go by and they're part of holdings of the German army, then they were rescued by General Paton and the 2nd Cavalry...and I'm not kidding about that part either! Check out their website for the real story of the Stallions if you want. Lipizzaner.com Obviously, I've condensed it and butchered it enough for one night!
Here are a few photos that Brian took during the show, just to give you a little idea about what Sophie got to see.
What a great night for Sophie!
