Missed It

As I awoke to the orange glow in my room, I wondered..."How many times have I missed something as beautiful as this?"  Shame on me, for not being more disciplined to see the sunrise on a regular basis!  I am not an early morning person.  Simply, I'm selfish...my bed is warm and my p.j.'s are cozy.  

As a Mom, I want to teach my kids the right thing, don't you?  However, so many times, like missing a sunrise, I'm selfish.  I don't take the opportunity to make that teachable moment count.  Sure, the sun will go on rising even if I don't wake up to see it, but if I don't capture and make the most of  those teachable moments with my children, will the results still be pleasing?  I am responsible for the person my children grow into.  I pray that the Lord will help me do a job that is pleasing, so that I won't someday realize that I "missed it" with my children.

Deuteronomy 6:7
 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
