The Kid Scissors **w/after Pics!!
Sometimes as a parent you want to laugh, but you can't.
Even though your youngest daughter just lobbed off the right side of her hair, and effectively massacred the left side, you must hold your composure. Oh sure, there was the inital "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???!!" reaction, but then my impulse anger turned to "WOW, she looks hilarious!!" There are a few interesting points about this event that I thought you might enjoy reading about, and here they are.
First, she carefully chose the "kid scissors" rather than the "dult ones" because she knows she NOT an adult. That was very well thought out, don't you think?
Second, she cut her hair quickly on a trip to the bathroom. It's always good to be time conscious when you're doing something wrong, right?
Third, she cleaned up her mess. Initially, I didn't notice what she'd done because I was laying sick as the dog we don't have on my bed. It wasn't until Super Sophie found the pictured wad of hair neatly placed in the bathroom garbage that I knew what had happened.! Neatness in disobedience, that's definitely an Emily angle.
I questioned her about what had happened to her hair, it went something like this...
Mama: What happened to your hair?
Emily: Ummmm, I think someone cut it
Mama: And who was that "Someone?"
Emily: Ummmm, I think maybe it was me, but I don't know if I should say that.
Mama: Yes, I think you should say that because we always want to tell the truth, even when we've done something wrong. So, let me ask you again...
Who cut your hair?
Emily: Titus did it. He just cut it right off!!
Mama: Emily!! Are you telling me a lie?
Emily: Oh, wait, I gotfor (forgot), I sink (think) it really was me. Yep, Emily. I did it.
With the kid scissors, 'cause I'm not opposed to use the 'dult ones"
Now its been two days and I've been too sick to take her the the salon to get it cut. Normally, I cut her hair, since it is usually just a bang cut or a few inches in the Summer, but this is a whole different ball game.
There are some really, really short pieces in the midst of some longer ones. The right side has a whole big section that is as short as her bangs!! Nope, I'm leaving this to the professionals!! Wish you were closer, Jenny!!

**The Post Haircut pictures will be posted later, so be sure to come back and see what the "repair" looks like!
So, the repair job isn't soo bad, but boo hoo, I still wish she never did it. The stylist who did the job tried her best to retain what length there was that hadn't been massacred.
I was thankful that she didn't try to just lob it off and give her a boy cut or something like it. I'll figure out how we can style it or add some "hair pretties" to tide us over until it grows back. If I could just get to feeling better then maybe I'd make some things too, but alas, I write from my bed. Oh well, at least she didn't cut it to the scalp!!

Well, that will be a story that will live in infamy! :) Way to keep your sense of humor, Karilee. I don't think I could've been quite as humorous! lol.
ReplyDeleteOh you poor thing!!! I'm so sorry this happened to you, it happened to me last year also in April. It stinks. Keturah's hair was getting so long and then.... it so wasn't. I wish I could help you fix it! The "professionals" might want to cut it super short to "even it out"... but that's not what I would do at all... it's impossible to perfectly "even out" a haircut like this... so for Keturah's I did this: I cut it into a bob so that the bottom lengths were pretty much even, but the top was hacked up bad, so I tried to turn it into layers as best I could, but what didn't fit at all, I just let be. I wasn't willing for my daughter to have a boy's haircut, just so things would "be even".... so her hairstyle for a long time was having the top section of her hair pulled up and to the side in a rubber band while it all grew out. I also used this opportunity to grow out her bangs - just for a change. Don't let any stylist cut her hair into any old lady styles just so that it's "even"... she can still look like a little girl while we hide the mistakes and let them grow out. :) Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteOur son Carsen took the beard trimmer to Caleb's hair when it first grew in and we had to shave his head!
ReplyDeleteHahaha I especially like the conversation! It's ok! It will grow back beautifully!!!
