Fall Fun

I love it when the weather changes and it gets cooler outside. I'm a December baby, so I think that is why I love to be all bundled up. Maybe not, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Recently, we took the Fam and went on an explore. Not too far off the beaten path, and actually, the beaten path, the road, goes right over the top of where we were! Ha! The beauty of God's world is all around us even in the midst of this hustle bustle world! I'm so glad we can get glimpses every now and then.
Back in the Summer, Brian took the kids to this place when I was off doing something, putting together a certain wedding reception, I think. Anyway, ever since then they've been wanting to take me to see this place. Truth be told, I'm not writing about "this place" and trying to be secretive about where we were, fact is, the kids are outside working, Brian is at work and I can't remember the name of this place. It was really pretty though! It was actually raining a bit while we were there, but after driving there and pulling the troops out of the car, we weren't going to let a little precipitation stop us! After all, how would we get our car muddy!
There is a nice little walkway with a viewpoint that you can see this place from. It was just that. Nice. However, for the more adventurous (aka: glutton for punishment) there is a little gate and a path/walkway/horrible stairway that goes down to the water level. Of course, we were not satisfied with the "nice walkway", so we trudged down the path. I got to be Titus' walking buddy. This means that I also got to lift him, support him and reassure him that we were not going to fall. Thankfully, we didn't fall even one time. We did manage to be attacked by some sort of bush thingy that had sticky little seed pods on it. That is, until we walked by....after the fact, we were both covered with them. (Added blessing-I kept finding them for a week after this trip) Thankfully, no harm was done to us and we did as God designed and carried the seed pods to another location so they could spring forth new bushes with sticky seed pods next year. (A little science lesson thrown in for good measure. You're welcome)
It was a fun little explore. Actually, in such a small area, I was able to see several different types of plants that I'd never seen before. Along the pathway there was the smell of mint in the air, which as we discovered was because there was mint growing! Shocking, I know, but true.
I also found these little pink things growing next to where Titus and I met up with the sticky seed pod bush. Up until that moment, I had only seen these pink things in artificial arrangements. Titus didn't understand my excitement over my discovery at all. Then, when I reached Brian and told him of my discovery, I realized again, that Titus is related to his Father. Brian was just as impressed as Titus had been. Sophia showed a little more enthusiasm, but I was pretty much alone. However, being on an explore is no place for sulking over ridiculous things, so instead I took a picture so I could share my joyous discovery with you folks here. Mock me or not, I saw them and that's enough for me. Now I know for sure that these "flowers" exist in real life and weren't just invented for little Chinese factory workers to make for Jo-ann's!
Since I'm quickly digressing from my topic, I'd better stop here before I offend someone or raise too many questions about my sanity.
Happy Fall!!

  1. Wow! beautiful, sounds like a good day. I'm trying to enjoy the fall colors while they last. The city actually looks quite beautiful with the bright fall leaves.
Also, that is sure one sharp hoodie on Sophie!

  2. Oh, yeah, and those pink things occasionally grow as weeds in our yard.
