Cyclops Baby & The Pumpkin Patch

For whatever reason, our family has Pumpkin patch issues. No, this year no one went potty at the pumpkin patch. (Check last years archives for the story if you're curious)
This year, we couldn't find a place that actually had a real patch that you could tromp around in. Not that I missed getting all muddy, mind you, but the kids really wanted to cut their own, etc. We drove alllll over the place looking for a pumpkin patch that had pumpkins, but to no avail. It seems that the pumpkin patch owners are appealing to the masses of parents who don't want to get muddy OR who've tricked their kids into thinking that pumpkins grow in neat orderly rows on the edge of parking lots. Whatever the case, our quest was a bust. HOWEVER! We were not about to totally abort the mission and come home pumpkin-less, so we just settled on a place and picked our pumpkins from the "Parking Lot Patch" like everybody else. It was still fun, but only for me because it took about 20 minutes rather than longer, and everyone was clean afterward. We managed to avoid getting sucked into the petting zoo area that cost money to walk through, because I was NOT paying money to walk through a stinky petting zoo that didn't actually let you pet the animals! What? A petting zoo with a sign posted "Please, do not touch the animals, we're sensitive"?? They could've at least changed the name to the "Don't Touch Me Farm Walk" or the "Sensitive Farm Animal Rip Off Zoo" or s something. Oh well.
Anyway, we used one of the rickety, rusty wagons and pulled Emily around along with Baby Cyclops, picked out our pumpkins and headed home.
Maybe next year we'll try another place and have another interesting adventure. OR maybe we'll just buy pumpkins at the grocery store.
In case you're wondering what we do with the pumpkins.... well, I guess I'll have to take some pictures and show you.

  2. You're kidding, a petting zoo but you can't pet the animals? Very odd!

  3. I'm a little late in posting this, but www.pickyourown.org has listings for tons of pumpkin patches in every state. Lots of other you-pick farms too! Maybe it will come in handy sometime in the future...
