Geese
Don't you just hate it when geese take over a park? Around here we have a park that could be very nice. However, the goose droppings outnumber the grass 2 to 1. It's pretty disgusting, especially around the pond. Which leads to the question...Why do I go there? Why do I keep going back there? Well, for a while there weren't any resident geese, just a few pretty white geese and a few ducks. Nice, serene, even fun to watch. Well, apparently some of the Canada Geese from the area have moved in and the ducks moved out. Last time I was at this park, it really wasn't this bad. Seriously, I had to hunt for a clear spot to set up our chair and blanket. (For you Rentonites out there, Brian says its worse than Coulon Park! Ha! Pretty bad, eh? maybe its changed, but ya'll know what I mean.)
We were hiding out here yesterday while a realtor was "showing" our house. It's right down the road. Not close enough to spit at, but close enough to say "it's close".
Caleb especially was totally bent on annoying the geese. He kept chasing them around, hoping he could get them to fly away.
In this picture you can see Caleb and Sophia in action (on the left). Chasing those varmits of the air around and finally into flight. If you click on the picture and make it larger you will see something funny happening on the right side of the picture too. Ethan was (and still is) convinced that a goose was going to "fly straight into me", while Emily was shrieking with fear and running towards Titus her great protector (who was also screaming at the same time). I had the great advantage of seeing it all from a far. Hilarious. I was also especially happy to be a safe distance away because as soon as those nasty birds took flight they erupted. Sooo gross! I know, I know, they have to be lighter so they can fly. Well, that's great, but its still disgusting!
In the 2 hours we spent at the park they managed to chase the geese into the water two times. After the first time, Emily and Titus got brave and joined in the terrorizing of the geese. They all had such fun!☺
Someone once told me that Canada Geese are "endangered". Well, maybe some species, some other place, but the ones we have here are thriving just fine. I'm thinking that Open Season on geese isn't such a bad idea. But then again, they're filthy animals, would I really want to eat one? I think not. They're famous disease spreaders and water polluters, would the world really miss them? My part of the world really wouldn't. A picture would be good enough for me.
Well, enough about the geese.
And now, for your viewing pleasure.... A couple random shots.

Great photos! Hey, I've been meaning to ask you because I have forgotten... why are you selling your house again? I don't mean that you're selling "again", but rather, tell me again why you're selling it. :) I really couldn't remember the reason the other day. Great photos! I love how often you have been posting lately!
ReplyDeleteugh! Geese are obnoxious! Remember how bad Gene Coulon at Lake Washington was?!? Ugh!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cupcake blog... mmm...there is some tasting sounds cupcakes over there to look at. Yum!
And yes, was that video showed was outrageous. I knew that print ads were doctored, but I never knew it was too that extreme after all they did to the model in real life. What got me most was when they elongated her neck and lowered her shoulders digitally. Crazy! It's no wonder the typical view of beauty is so skewed!
PS Love all the pictures!
Hey Karilee -
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along at Gauche Alchemy! Love your photos, esp. the bottom one. How come every farkin' thing the little ones do is SOOO cute? :)
Thanks for coming by my blog again. It´s good to know that you also used Babywise. I had a mother tell me that the author and the book were unBiblical. I don´t know the author personally nor did I study his background.
ReplyDeleteAny way it´s been nice to get to know your family through your blog. Your Geese encounter is funny. I reminds me of my childhood growing up in Up State NY. We would have to combate those obnoxious things too.
Beautiful pictures.
