My Makeover

Ha! I bet you saw the title of this post and thought it was Me who got the makeover!! Well, no such luck, I look as bad as ever!!! lol! You can be the judge of that, if you're so inclined.
About 3 1/2 years ago, I hit "Jackpot" at Home Depot and found the exact color of paint that I wanted to paint my bathroom! The reason it was "Jackpot" was because I found it on the shelf of "Mis-tints" , which means that it was marked down to $5 a Gallon!! And it just so happened that they had two gallons! Perfect. It would be just enough to do the job! I know it was a gift from my Lord (he's just that way sometimes), and I'm happy to say so!
Since then, I've had a couple kids and experienced various and sundry forms of chaotic life. These are my reasons (excuses) as to why it has taken me sooo long to paint my bless-ed bathroom!
The first 2 pictures show the before look. The light above the sink is also a new addition to the room. Before the fixture you see here, we had a long bar of 10 round bulbs. I hate those types of lights. We call them "Movie Star Lights" because they remind us of the lights you see around a movie star's mirror on TV or in a movie. Well, I had been wanting a new light, but I decided to put it off until every one of those bulbs went out. It took quite a while for them all to go out, longer than I thought. Finally, one day they were all dark! Hurray!! The funny thing about it then was that even though our bathroom was very dark, we still waited a week or two to go get a new light! At night we would just turn on the light in our little toilet/shower room and use that if we needed the other room. Crazy, I know, but this was happening during Brian's final weeks of school, so nothing extra was being done around the house except studying!!
Brian hates painting, so this "makeover" was officially dubbed my "area". Needless to say, it took me a couple of weeks to get the whole room painted and put back together. Even still, I have a towel bar to hang along one of the walls by the tub. I tried to temporarily hang it up using those "Command Strips" by 3M company....bad idea. It lasted a couple of days and then came crashing down in the middle of the night. Wow! That was loud.
The "after" pictures aren't too great, one was taken at night and the others in the afternoon. I was trying not to use the flash because it really made it look too bright and weird. If you want to see the real thing, then I guess you'll just have to come and visit!
I'm pleased with how it came out, but I still won't rest until I hang that towel bar. Why am I waiting to hang it? Well, I'm chicken and I have to make sure that I can do it and make it look perfect. Oh, and I also have to get the directions out of the garage. One of these days I'll get it done. Sooner rather than later and probably tomorrow.
Hope you like the results of My Makeover! :)

  1. Oh wow, you did a great job painting!! The edges all look so clean and neat!! It's beautiful! What about the "toilet room"? Are you going to paint it too? Thanks for sharing your little project, it makes me want to dive into our little "bathroom remodel" that we have been collecting for... but we still need to find a small piece of vinyl flooring... I want the kind that looks like tile.

  2. Ooh, ah, beautiful! I definitely want to come see it--and its painter--in person. Nice color. Totally changes the personality of the room.

  5. Anon... The Paint I used was Behr paint from Home Depot. Premium Plus Interior Semi Gloss Enamel
The color is Egyptian Nile ((4209-8)
    in Deep Base (3300)
If they don't have it anymore, I'm sure you could find something similar. I NEVER shop at Home Depot anymore since they struck out with me too many times, but Lowe's is nice and Sherwin Williams has a killer website for color choosing.
    Happy painting!
