The Grand Finale!
Some of you know that for the past 6 months Brian has been a full time student in the Sinclair Community College Police Academy.
Some of you didn't know until now. Surprise!!
Now that you all know, you will be pleased, as we are, that he has graduated!! Hurray!!
He passed all of the requirements and was also awarded a GOLD medal in the area of physical fitness!!
The program began in January. He has been in class Monday through Friday, most Saturdays, and a few Sundays, just to mix things up a bit.
His classes went from 7:50 am to 3:30 or 4:3o pm on those days. At the same time he was also busy working Part time, and being a husband and father. Needless to say, he's been a very busy guy.
To help celebrate Brian's graduation, we were blessed to have his Aunt and Uncle from Terre Haute, Indiana attend and spend the weekend with us. (Even just a few weeks after his Aunt had hip replacement surgery!! What a woman!) My Mom and Dad from Washington were also able to join us. In addition, our Pastors, their wives, and several of our close friends were also in attendance for the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, we hosted a get together at our home for those same people. We all had a great time and it was a special time for Brian as he finished his course well and with honor.
During Brian's academy training he was taught 3,000 Student performance objectives, these covered all areas of law enforcement that you can imagine, and a many more that you can't imagine. No, he wasn't tazed, but he did get pepper sprayed . It was an experience that he hoped to never repeat. The academy training was also a preparation for the Ohio State law enforcement exam, which is required to be certified to become a Police Officer. That test was this past Wednesday. It was a 2 1/2 hour test that was comprised of about 200 of the objectives that they were taught in the academy. The tricky part was that they didn't know exactly which 200 items would be on the test! After much studying and much prayer, we are happy to announce that he DID pass his STATE TEST!!!
Now he is in the process of filling out various applications for different departments in the area. The application process is quite long. It's amazing how detailed they are!
We are praying that he will get a job as an officer soon. He has one year from the date of his State test to get a job as a Sworn Police Officer before he will have to go back and take additional classes to preserve his certification. If you think of our family, please pray for us in this area.
He is still working at Chick fil a, and will work for them Full time until the Lord opens another door.

ReplyDeleteYay!!!! I am so proud of my big brother!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! How exciting! Way to go Brian! Boy... that must have been so stressful going to school that much while also working and running a family! I'm so glad it's all over, and I can't wait to hear about your new job. Wow... there are so many law questions I have been wondering about lately, but my guess is that they are all different from state to state. Love the photo! Caleb always looks a little less than happy?
