Ways I Save

As far as I know, the only way that a Full House will make you money is if you're playing poker. Since I have a Full House, with 7 of us, I'm always looking for a way to save money. There are a lot of things that I do to pinch my pennies, and some of them are more fun than others, but I thought I'd share some of my favorite online places to save money. I've linked the websites to the titles, so you can click on the titles and it will take you to the websites I've listed.
First of all, there are several blogs that I check a few times a week that give me the inside scoop into certain local stores that I shop each week. This helps a lot and saves me the time of figuring out which items I have coupons for that are also on sale. It's not always a listing of sale items, but sometimes a post about something to do with frugality or the like. A couple of them have been on my sidebar for a while, but there are also a few more that I will list.

Mommy Snacks
Money Saving Mom
Stretching a Buck
Like Mother, Like Daughter

Second, are the website that I go to and print coupons for items that I buy or will buy because I have a coupon. This is also a great way to end up getting free items when the item is on sale. I LOVE doing this the most! Most of these sites request that you register with them, which I used to be against, but I have a junk mail account that I use when I sign up for things and that eliminates getting lots of unwanted email on my regular account. So go ahead, register! It won't hurt too much! In fact, it will help!

BettyCrocker.com

Shortcuts.com The great thing about this one is that you can also use a paper coupon along with any purchases that you make and have a saved coupon for in your account. That's called "stacking" in the world of couponing. Who knew there was a whole language relating to couponing??

Cellfire.com I was a little leery of this one because I didn't want to get any extra texts or something, but you can sign up for it and choose to have the information sent to your email address instead of your phone. So far, it's worked fine for me.

And last of all, there are several good places to go and find yummy recipes that are off the beaten path (meaning, you won't pull them up in a google search for a recipe).

Prudence Pennywise

Tammy's Recipes

The Eat Food Not Money Cookbook

So, that gives you a little glimpse of some of the things that I use to help out with saving money. No matter what, saving money is always a welcome addition to any one's budget, right?

  3. Very nice! So many of those I have not checked out yet! They are building a Walgreens about a mile from my house, so I can't wait until that goes in and then I will receive their ads. Do you find it more trouble to have to go to the different places for the items? What about taking all the kids with you? When do you do your shopping. Late at night the "deals" are gone... during the day husband is working and there is school to do... so, how do you work that?

  4. How I get my deals?? Good question. Well, first of all its all VERY planned out, no off the cuff stuff, except a stray milk run here or there.
I tend to only go to a few stores and not usually on the same days.
I do my main shopping at one store (Meijer) and then only go to Kroger if there are deals that I want to get. I mostly go to CVS, or Walgreens every 2 weeks because we just don't seem to need those type of items as often. I rarely buy food items at those two either. Maybe I should, but I don't....yet. :)
I most often go in the hours that hubby is home (sometimes days, sometimes nights) I don't take more than two children with me, and its NEVER the younger two together (that's sooo counterproductive). I prefer to go alone because its faster for me to be alone with my plan and my thoughts. I probably look like a spaced out mother creeping through the store, but that's okay with me!
I work off of a list, menu, and coupon lists, which I'll post about tomorrow. It's been so exciting to see how much money I can save!
Any more questions? Ask away and I'll include the answers in my next post too.
