There's Freedom in Napping

Ahhh, a nap. Don't those very words make you smile? Whether its you napping or your child, it's still a very joyous occasion.

I love the way my kids sleep. Don't you? It's so funny to sneak in their rooms and snatch a quick photo of them sleeping in some weird way.

Like here, Emily, resting peacefully with her rear end sticking up in the air! How comfy is that? Notice also that she's asleep on her blankets. That is something she always does, no matter how cold or warm it is in the room. Even if you go in the room, cover her, and tuck the edges in at the bedside, you can come back a little while later and she'll be laying on the blanket. I've tried it several times and have only come back to find her laying on multiple blankets!! Ha! As you can see she also takes off her socks, so unless I put her in tights, her feet stay uncovered.

Oh well! Now I just dress her in layers so she'll stay warm when its chilly at night. She wakes up in the morning with little ice cube-y feet, but doesn't seem to mind that either.

Then there was today, when I went to get her out of her crib after her nap.

This picture is what I saw at the foot of the bed as I entered the room. This sort of sight is never a good sign.

Just in case you're wondering, this is not what I expected to see! I had heard her awaken a few minutes earlier, so I'm not sure if she did this pre-nap or post nap. As you can see from the photo below, I'm glad I have a matress pad on her crib matress, and it would appear that she's properly hydrated.
She didn't even act like there was anything amiss, which doesn't really surprise me since it is Emily. She's the shocker child, the fiery arrow in our quiver . As long as this remains something we deal with as a toddler, I can handle it. Of course, if she had done anything other than "#1" in the bed, I'm sure I'd change my mind in a hurry!
