TAG!!! I'm it!
I love to play games!! Jenny had this over on her blog and since she mentioned that she thought that I would respond to it.... Well, I did, or rather, I am. Wait, saying "I did" IS right, because, I did and that's past (even though it's the present right now as I type this), really I'm posting Pre-morning coffee, so that may explain the overflowance of retardness. Sorry. Let me get my coffee and come back.
Here are my answers. Now, tag, you're all it!! Email! Blog! Whatever!!
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags - It depends on the type of gift. I mostly use wrapping paper (which I got free this year using ECB's from CVS Pharmacy), but I also found some very cute gift bags that I'm saving for some special gifts.
2. Real tree or artificial - Only the REAL THING is allowed in our home Any talk otherwise is considered just this side of treason (ha, ha "tree-son") and may subject you to great and painful penalties.
3. When do you put up the tree - Not until after Dec. 1st, and usually in the first couple of weeks, but its only done after a long and arduous search for the perfect tree.
4. When do you take the tree down - After Christmas, usually before New Year's Day or somwhere around there.
5. Do you like egg nog - Yes, especially in my coffee!
6. Favorite gift recieved as a child -This is a hard question.... My Wrinkles Dog that I named Charlotte (sorry, Charlotte).
7. Hardest person the buy for - My Brother
8. Easiest person to buy for - Sophia
9. Do you have a nativity scene - Yes, actually we have four of them! One is porcelein and was made by my Great Aunt. One is ceramic and handpainted, Brian brought it back from a trip to Mexico several years ago. One is a kid-friendly set made of nice resin plastic with magnets to keep the people standing, Mary on the donkey, etc that we let the children play with, and the 4th one is also a kid friendly set that we had before the set I just mentioned. The kids have a wondeful time playing through the story of Jesus' birth.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards - Usually, neither. I'm TOTALLY and unashamedly negligent in this area.
11. Worst Christmas gift ever - As a teenager I received a very large, LOUD ticking, ugly wall clock.
12. Favorite Christmas movie - It's a Wondeful Life
13. When do you start your christmas shopping - I try to collect things all throughout the year, but often collect my last minute ideas starting in October-December. It has become a tradition for me to make pillowcases for each of the children out of special fabric that I find that has some item/color that they like. I am NOT a Christmas Eve shopper, if fact, I try to avoid the mall and stay home and make fattening cookies and candies!
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present - No. Probably eBay-ed one, but not sure. :)
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas - I love Christmas cookies and candy. Thankfully, Christmas only comes once a year!
16. Lights on the tree - Yes, the more the better. Clear only, even though the masses within the walls are crying out for multi-colors and flashers!
17. Favorite Christmas song - O Holy Night
18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home - Since most of our family lives across the country, we stay at home. Airfare for seven people isn't very economical! This year we're having my parents and my brother for Christmas!! Hurray! This will be the first time we've seen my brother in 4 years! We can't wait!!
19. Can you name all of Santas reindeer- Um, let's see.... Comet, dasher, dancer, blitzen, rudolph, dopey, sneezy...no, I can't. Sorry, sometimes I get my own children mixed up so this is not a very good question for me.
20. Angel on the tree or star - A gold star. My boys think the angels in the stores look like sissy's. They like the idea of Michael the archangel being a big strong, guy with a hurking physique that you wouldn't want to mess with, and no angel like that would ever want to be strapped to any tree!
21. Open presents Christmas eve or Christmas- ONLY on Christmas morning!! After a long and painful process that we went through as children.
Wake up, get dressed, make our beds, open stockings, eat breakfast, clean up, brush teeth, and THEN open presents. Oh, and we open presents in order, going around the room. Nothing like delayed gratification. We proudly carry the pain on to our children.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year - People passing around store bought desserts as others present their own homemade confections. (especially in a cookie exchange)
23. Favorite ornament theme color - Gold, Red, and silver
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner - Roast Lamb, mashed potatoes, green beans, scalloped corn, cranberries, homemade dinner rolls (using Jenny S's recipe, thanks again, Jen) and dessert!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year - A Nintendo DS. Don't laugh, I really do.
26. Who is most likely to respond to this - Probably no one, because hardly anyone ever responds on here. lol.
