WANTED: DEAD & ALIVE

I just wanted to share something that I've been working on for the last several months. Each year our church hosts a Ladies Conference for churches all around. Some travel far and some live nearby, but either way, we're glad that they come.

Our theme this year is WANTED: DEAD & ALIVE. The theme verse for this is Romans 6:11, which says "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." Our speaker will be, Mrs. Pam Copes from Oklahoma City, OK. She and her husband serve on staff at Heartland Baptist Bible College. This past July, I had the opportunity to hear her speak at a conference and was greatly blessed. It will be so wonderful to see how the Lord uses her in the lives of the many women in attendance.

The Lord has blessed my heart already in the preparations for the conference. I can truly sense his hand in my life as I do the many things that I'm doing. As a wife and mother, I want to serve without sacrificing my "domestic" responsibilities, etc. It can be so easy to be oUt oF bAlAnCe when we get involved in things. Even tonight, I sit in wonder as I realize that the Lord gave me the forethought to make cookie dough last week so that I would have it on hand to make fresh cookies for my family. You know how it is, you get busy and meal preparations go out the window and the cleaning schedule goes where? Amazingly, I am on schedule in all areas minus the laundry, and because we all have too many clothes, we're still able to dress decently. Actually, its not that out of control, but I always feel bad when it doesn't get done daily. So, as I sit here typing this blog entry (without compromising my time), to the smell of freshly baked cookies in a clean kitchen, I have to say "Thank you Lord!!" Now don't go thinking I'm super woman or something because I assure you that this doesn't happen all the time. I wish it did and I am working on certain things to get it there more regularly, but I am only human.

Despite all the hard work and bits of chaos in preparing, I can honestly say that I have a peace and a calm that I know could only come from the Lord. Amazing.

What a blessing to have this precious opportunity to serve the Lord! We live in exciting times to be sure, but it is always exciting when we get to serve the Saviour!!

  1. Your poster is beautiful! Well, I guess it's not a poster... but it's patterned after one. How fun, I wish I could come. We're having Brother Hardy soon from Stillwater OK. Hope I spelled his name right. What does the $25 charge cover?

  2. I've never heard Bro. Hardy speak, but I heard his wife a few years ago at a Ladies Conference in Indianapolis. She's great! She loves Starbuck coffee too, so I was instantly loving her! :)
The $25 charge covers Breakfast and Lunch plus misc. expenses such as prizes and supplies. The charge mostly covers the food, we certainly don't MAKE any money! lol! It's a wonderful ministry to be a part of!
