Only on Sunday Morning
After years of Sunday morning mayhem, I finally have come up with a workable plan that gets us out the door without having to make confessions, apologies and pleas for forgiveness on the way to church.
It's really quite simple, I get up between 6 and 6:30 am and get myself ready. By the time I wake up everyone else, or they wake up on their own, I am settled and ready for anything, almost.
This particular morning everything was going according to plan, but there was a bonus. (or so I thought) THE BABY WAS SLEEPING LATE!! WoW! This almost NEVER happens so I was enjoying it. Then as a bit more time went by, I thought, hmm, she's still sleeping? I hope she's okay....JPG)
Well, she was "Okay" as in safe from danger. However, as you can see from the pictures, she was far from sleeping!!
Here's what happened...
Emily sleeps in our extra bedroom these days because she is often so "challenging" at bedtimes. She was supposed to share the room with Sophia, but she will keep Sophia awake with her, exuberant disobedience. I have the crib placed near a wall and about 2 feet away from the storage dresser where I keep my scrapbooking/rubberstamping supplies. HOWEVER, somehow, someone shoved the bed over right next to the storage dresser. All Emily had to do was reach out and pull. Which, as you can see, is just what she did.

She favored the Colorbox green pigment ink pad and was very pleased with all the new things she had gotten to play with!
Doesn't she look good in green??
Of course, I had to bathe her and scrub to get the ink off. I thought I'd better change the outfit she was wearing for church so it would coordinate with any leftover green stains. Ha!
In the end, I was able to get it all scrubbed off her face, leg, arms, ears, and neck . I was unable to get it all off the palms of her hands or the bottoms of her feet!!
Several days later there was still traces of ink on her feet and hands.
A friend even asked if she had recently had shots or blood drawn because she assumed that her heels were bruised from something like that!! What a fun I had explaining the real cause of her discolored feet!!
In all this there is a lesson to be learned... No matter how early I get up on Sunday morning, I cannot be prepared for everything!
(Excuse the mess behind them in this pic. I'm going through books to get things ready for school and my mending pile somehow ended up on our school table even though my machine and sewing desk are on the other side of the room! )
