The New and Improved Bathroom!

Over the last year I've been purchasing the components to change the decor in the children's bathroom. It used to be plain white walls with a dragonfly sort of theme that we purchased from Wal-Mart. At the time they were just perfect, but now...not so much. Since I didn't have the capital to just redo everything all at once, I just bought one new thing each month or every other month depending on the price. It seemed like it would take forever to be able to make the change. Finally, this June, while Caleb and Sophia went to the Bill Rice Ranch, I was able to paint the walls. It was quite a fun time. I became Mrs. fix it or rather, Mrs. Remove it. I was going to have a hard time painting in the corner by the medicine cabinet, and wanted to be careful because any paint that I got on the side would show in the mirror! Finally, I thought, Hey! I could take the door off the cabinet and then I could get in there better. As I was unscrewing the door, my eye caught sight of a screw inside the cabinet. Hmm, I wonder if I could just unscrew those little screws and take the whole cabinet off the wall?! Well, sure enough, that's what I did! It made things a lot easier and it also showed me what messy workmen built our house! They didn't even clean out the sawdust or drywall dust before they mounted the cabinet! There was a whole pile of it in there! Anyway, it worked great and went back in without a hitch! Brian helped me take the mirror down and remove the tank off the toilet so I could paint behind it. BTW, I will now and forever take the tank OFF and not try to paint around it or behind it, it comes off quick as a wink!

The whole room came out so nice, I am so glad I did it. I still have a couple of things to hang on the wall, but other than that it is done. It's such a blessing to see how the Lord provided each of the things in the room, slowly, but in his time. I truly had to wait on the Lord, for my bathroom!! That's not something one generally considers when reading the Bible!

  1. oh how fun! So funny... we have also been collecting the supplies (and even remodel supplies) for our "kids" bathroom...but we are going the other direction! Haha...we are taking it from a cartooney puppy and kitty theme to a grown up bathroom theme. Isn't that funny? I began to realize that guests use the bathroom sooo often, and the kids don't seem to care whatsoever about the decor...so it might as well please me! I so loved your dragonfly theme...I really looked for it myself, but Dan wasn't really going for the lavender and purple colors. :( Our new bathroom colors are a sage green with white wainscoating and white chair rail...probably hard to picture, we will post pictures whenever we get it done. :) Okay, I'm writing a book. Love ya!
