Emily's First Birthday

First birthday's are usually not a BIG deal unless its your first child. We had a party for Caleb with guests, etc. For all of the other children it was just a family affair. However, Emily is our most vivacious child and because of this we knew that she, above all children, would enjoy being given her first birthday cake. We were not disappointed.

First, Brian gave her a taste of frosting by letting her lick the candle.

She liked the frosting, and I think she was in shock that
we had actually put a whole cake on her tray.

She just kept looking at the cake and laughing. Almost
like she was thinking, "I can't believe this! A whole cake!
What are they thinking?!"

Then, all of a sudden, without warning, she struck!
Like lightening... SHWAAAK!

She smacked the cake!

You can see the hand print she left! LOL

Finally, she dove in...literally.

Mmmmm, chocolate is yummy!

She liked it an awful lot!
She's female, chocolate makes her happy!

Time to get serious and DIG IN!

Now she was into her task and it was totally all over her!

She was enjoying herself so much. I can't believe how much cake she really ate!

Because she was sooo filthy with cake and frosting, we put her into a garbage bag so we could carry her upstairs to the bathtub without getting crumbs everywhere.

One last look before the clean off! Or she has that feeling that you get after eating too much... "I can't believe I ate that much!"

The remains, which were thrown away after shooing Titus away from trying to "share" Emily's cake.

It was a fun time. She didn't get sick afterwards, but she did have some mighty chocolatey diapers. That was NOT the side of chocolate cake that I prefer.
