Spring Cleaning

Doesn't that very phrase send chills up your spine? Why is it that we all dread the idea, but feel, oh, so much better after we tackle the task? Today, I organized my kitchen pantry for the umpteenth (I'm not sure that's a real word) time. It usually lasts for about 3 or 4 months and then I get to do it all over again. If I was the only person who got into the pantry it would last alot longer. lol, not everyone has as much love for a clean, organized pantry as I do. Yesterday, I organized boy clothes. As you can imagine we have a succession of hand-me-downs and we were recently given 4 garbage bags full of 4T/5T boy clothes!! THAT was a lot of clothes! So, I sorted through the sizes and types of clothes and filled in the gaps of the clothes I already had. Now I put them into a plastic tote and await the day that Titus will grow into them. I bagged up the remaining items (still 2 bags worth) and passed them on to another family in the church. Next, I get to go through the clothes that Emily has outgrown and get them ready to pass on. We have 3 ladies in our church who are having baby's in the next 3 months and they're all having girls! Hurray! It's so fun to pass clothes around!

Another project that I've been working on is my laundry room. ugh! Of all the household tasks, laundry is the one I hate the most!! I would gladly clean toilets and scrub floors, but laundry, no thank you. That doesn't mean that I don't do it. I do, and I even have a nice little system that keeps laundry for 7 manageable. (if you want to know my secret, ask me) Anyway, I have these WONDERFUL machines that do my laundry, but there is a tiny little problem that has yet to be solved....until today!!! I have a front loading washer and dryer (which I love) and they sit right next to each other, all nice an cozy. However, when I fold the clothes (which I do on top of the machines because I don't believe in laundry baskets anymore), sometimes a suicidal sock will jump off the back of the machine and land in no mans land. I can't reach all the way to the floor and sometimes bigger things go sailing down there. All in all its a big irritation. I have one of those nifty "Grabber" things that someone bought for me who shared my plight and that has worked fine, but I wanted to eliminate the problem altogether. Finally, I had a vision (nothing fancy, no angels), just an idea, really. It's what I call a ghetto fix because I solved my problem using good old fashioned cardboard. A while ago, Brian brought me a GIGANTIC cardboard box from work, it was about 6 feet long and 4 feet wide and 6 inches deep. I didn't need it for the box use, but to cut down, paint on, make forts, window coverings(aka: Ghetto shades), etc. Or in this case, a Laundry Irritation Solution! All I had to do was use one single side of it over the top of both machines and then I cut holes for the hoses and plugs and fit it right up to the wall. Then I put my rugs back on top and wha-la! Problem solved! Now that I've posted about this I'm thinking, what a retarded thing to blog about!! LOL! How funny! I don't care, it's just funny really. In a silly comparison to more exciting posts, it is very pale. So, it's like me! I'm very pale, I'm not a big sunbather!! :) I'm sure you're shocked about that!

  1. Don't worry about writing something that sounds retarded. We all know you and understand where you're coming from, anyway! lol! Besides, to quote Jenny, "Just tell us about your week!! It's like sending out a weekly email to all of your friends!" Thank you for satisfying your most loyal readership!

  2. Woo Hoo! I love organizing. I don't like the cleaning aspect of Spring Cleaning though. All those up high things... and I'm always so short or so pregnant. (It seems) But I do love to organize. And yes, isn't it funny how we agonize about and dread the task... but then after we do it we're like.... WHAT was all the fuss about? ALways happens to me.
