...the continuing saga

As she came back into the house, she noticed that her parrot was...
...squaking and saying "there he goes, there he goes, there he..." Just then,
she heard glass shatter in the living room and her parrot fell with a thud to the floor. She ran to see what had happened with a fright! There lay her amazon parrot stunned on the floor. For once, he was quiet, so even though she was sorry he was hurt, she was relieved for the temporary silence. A few minutes later, her husband burst through the back door. DARLA!! You'll never believe what I just did!! She sighed as she saw the pellet gun in his right hand. The pieces of the puzzle were starting to fit. Her husband then relayed to her a wild escapade that he had just had in the woods, chasing a neighbors cat that spent more time in their yard than its own. Since he was retired now, he took advantage of the morning hours to walk in the woods. He said it was peaceful, and sometimes more peaceful after shooting something. She ushered her husband into the kitchen for a nice cup of coffee while they waited to see if the parrot would revive, again. As they sat there, they reflected on the blessings that God had given them, there were so many. In a strange way, today they had something to be thankful for, the parrot was just stunned, not dead. Even though the window what broken, it was an easy fix that her husband could do himself. She smiled as she remembered how they had purchased such a large lot of window glass on ebay and how they wondered what on earth would they do with it all??!! Now as she saw the pellet gun resting on the back of the table she now knew what they would be using some of that extra glass for. So much to be thankful for, even when we don't understand. :)

  1. OK, now I get it! I like the line that says, "The pieces of the puzzle were starting to fit." Like rubbing my eyes to get the sleep out, like adjusting the focus on the binoculars to get rid of the blur, like messing with the antenae of our tv (which I don't really watch), it makes more sense now. The puzzle pieces fit. I'm not (quite so) worried for your sanity anymore.

"In every thing give thanks." Isn't it amazing that in spite of the infinite array of topics God could have explicitly said were His will, one of the few specific subjects He commends to us is thanks-giving? "For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Guess that would be a good verse to remember the next time I wonder what God's will is for my life!
