Through the Eyes of the Children
My children have inheirited the "photography gene" and are always wanting to take pictures. My normal response is...no. Usually 9 times out of 10 they want me to take a picture of something that will have no signifigance after about 30 minutes or a picture of the cute face that Emily is making ---the same spaced out infant look that we have in 20 other pictures. Don't get the wrong idea, I do take pictures of things that are important to them that aren't always important to me, but not quite to the excess that they would like. I even have a file called KID PICS just for pictures that are important ONLY to them. It is quite comical to browse through it. .jpg)
On this particular day, I had explained to Sophie a little bit about the picture taking procedure. I then allowed her to take a few shots while I was watching, but not WATCHING her. I wanted her to feel free to take pictures of what she wanted to capture. I also allowed Ethan to get in on the action. The following pictures are the results of those photo sessions. As you can see they are not stellar quality photos, but since that wasn't the point, they are great shots!
They had such fun and felt so important after doing this, it was fun just to observe and listen. As we've looked at the photos over the last couple of days they have been so pleased. I'd like to continue to do this with them and let them build a nice collection of photos and just see what we come up with. .jpg)

I love the poses, and the noses! And speaking of things up close and personal, not to be nosy or anything, but that is a nose, is it not? Whose is it? Good thing it was clean! ;o)
ReplyDeleteOh, what a neat idea. Josiah has a smaller digital camera that Dan got somewhere... I should have him do this. I know that he used to take a lot. I love the litte views of the children... and of you and your home. That's what's so neat about it... little views you wouldn't normally see. Looks like you and Sophie have shorter hair these days? How easy to take care of! I desperately need to get mine cut, it has been ages.
