Emily's First Camping Trip
Emily is not into "roughing it", so when Grampa & Grammy came to visit with their motor home, she decided to give it a try. actually, for some strange reason her whole family went camping with her. Please keep in mind that the motorhome sleeps 5 people. That's one real bed, taken by Grampa and Grammy, one couch that folds out to be like a bed, and a bunk over the cab. Please also keep in mind that we have a family of 6 people + 2 grandparents = LOTS of people. The first night it went like this...
Grandparents in their "own" bed, Mama & Papa sharing the pulled out couch thing, Sophie on the bunk above the cab, and the three boys in the Suburban. Where was Emily? Well, when you're only 7 pounds, you can sleep just about anywhere, and she did. It was not exactly a Moses Basket, but something a little more contemporary. It held her just fine and she seemed more than comfortable.
Upon arising in the morning we discovered that the boys had been eaten alive by every mosquito in the eastern part of the continent. Okay, maybe not that many, but it would be vastly understated to say that they were COVERED WITH BITES. In fact, it wouldn't have surprised me if they were anemic after that night because of the amount of blood that they lost . I think we counted 36 bites on one of Caleb's legs! Yikes! So...just in case th e first night wasn't enough fun for the boys, we decided to stay another night! But this time it was even better... This time ALL the boys slept inside the motorhome also! There were literally, "Bodies Everywhere!" It turned out fine, no one was stepped on in the middle of the night during midnight potty trips and no one got anymore mosquito bites. It's a wonder that no one was infected with any mosquito transported disesases! Emily survived the whole ordeal without any mosquito bites at all. Over all, camping left a positive impression on her
, but I doubt she would be as enthusiastic if she had to share a bed with someone. :)
