5 Little Monkeys...

Four Little Monkeys stood by the bed,
Mama was sick and needed to rest.
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"Soon They'll be a 5th Monkey to jump on the bed".

Three Little Monkeys all share a room,
One of them will move to a big bed soon.
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"You might need to add a fourth little bed"

Two Little Monkeys sitting on the bed,
"I thought we were done, " is what they said.
Papa called the Doctor and Doctor said,
"That's what you get for jumpin' on the bed".

One Little Monkey jumped on her bed,
Wishin' she had a sister to join her on the bed,
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"Just wait 'til August to meet him or her instead!"

Yes, this is more than just a silly poem. It's a silly poem that is written about our family! We are expecting a new addition in the summer. We've known for some time, and even announced it, but I've been overly tardy about posting it here. Shame on me!
I'll be perfectly candid with you. At first, I had a hard time thinking about being pregnant again. After all, WE HAD DECIDED that we were done having babies. so funny. That was our first mistake. So many times in my life the Lord shows me how much of a big mouth I have. After having Titus, I boasted "Titus is the end of the line...the final four isn't just for basketball anymore..." Oh, I was soo funny. And the Lord lovingly must have thought to himself ...when will she ever learn to keep her ever living mouth shut ? (probably not those same words)
When we started to suspect that I was pregnant, we were sort of in a daze about it. "...but we were so careful". Obviously, the Lord finds it very easy to work around our careful attempts to "be careful". We've had countless people say things to us, trying to be funny. For instance, "don't you know what causes this?" or "Only __ more and you'll have enough for a _____ team! Go TEAM!" In all actuality, the Bible says "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." (Psalm 127) We're always saying that we want the Lord to bless us and reward us and when he does, Why do we question it? My children are a blessing, I can't imagine life without any of them. It is a joy and a priviledge to raise up these little ones to serve him. Why would one more be any different? Maybe this child will be a great preacher or a wife to a missionary or serve the Lord in some way that I can't even imagine. Now this is getting exciting! Keeping things in God's perspective and not mine. Oh sure, I don't exactly like the fact that I've outgrown my size 4 and 6 and 8 clothing, but it's only temporary, right? If I weren't outgrowing my clothes I wouldn't have the silent pleasure of feeling the movements of the sweet little one in my womb. I wouldn't have pictures of sweet baby feet.
AND I'd have no excuse to want Carrot Cake in the worst way! !
