The Biltmore...

Estate. Have you ever heard of it?? I had heard of it years ago, but totally forgot about what it was until Brian and I got on the good ole internet and did some exploring. So, obviously, we've visited there now or I wouldn't be writing about it on here.

As it happened, we were invited to go along with Brian's boss and family, another operator from Chick-fil-A and his wife, and another couple. It was going to be a very quick trip. We would leave on Sunday afternoon and then return late Monday night. When Brian called and asked if I was interested in accepting the invitation, I said "only if we can leave the kids somewhere". I doubted that Titus especially would have much interest in touring a 175,000 square foot home. The Lord provided friends who willingly took in our children that we were gleefully deserting temporarily.
The past few months have been a bit turbulent for Brian at work. The transition from the former employer to the new employer had a bit of a rocky start, but the Lord has carried Brian through in his perfect way. It was a great time of building relationships and a good rapport for Brian with his boss, family, and other associates.
Our tour of the Biltmore Estate was really quite fascinating. (http://www.biltmore.com/, if you're interested) The house and the technology that it contained for the time period in which is was built was really interesting to see and hear about. Rather than everyone having a real person tour guide through the house you can rent these little headphone sets that have a small key pad. As you enter each room, you type in the number that coordinates with the map and the room that you're viewing. A recorded message comes on and gives you all the history and details of the room and its contents. It really made seeing the house much more interesting than if you just walked through on your own using the brochure.
We spent about 3 hours there and then went back into town to eat lunch. We went to Moe's. It was our first time there, but everyone that we were with was very excited and said it was "great food". We'll try anything, once. It was great! It was mexican style Subway. They have burritos, quesadillas, nachos, and soft tacos. The similarity to Subway is that you choose the basic type of thing that you want and then you go through the line and they make it in front of you, asking you if you want this topping or that. They also give you unlimited chips and salsa. We really liked it, but Oh MY word, the burrito was HUGE! It was at least 2 inches fat and 6 inches long and stuffed FULL. I maybe could've eaten the whole thing if I hadn't eaten all day and didn't eat any chips and salsa, but how can you pass up fresh chips and salsa??
We made a final stop before leaving town at Starbucks and then headed home. After picking up our kids from our very tired and kind friends who could've locked up, went to bed and left us out in the driveway. Finally, we got home around 1 am in the morning!

We're looking forward to going back for another explore some other day. Come and join us!!
