Life as we know it
I have no pictures to post, so sad. My camera is still at the camera clinic (that's really the name of the place, BTW), and it will be there another week or two. In the meantime you'll just have to use your imagination as you read. :)
Titus is now officially crawling in the normal way. For the past several weeks he has been "Commando Baby" because he's been doing the army crawl thing. Now that he's perfected both types of crawling he has shifted his focus from mobility to speed. This is when things begin to get challenging, the baby gate gets a lot of use, and the playpen is my friend. For this same reason I have come to think that this is a perfect time to get a puppy. Yes, you read right, I said "the perfect time". It's really because there are a myriad of similarities between Titus and a puppy!
Both of them ...
...Like to pick up and chew on anything and everything they can get in their mouth
...Cannot have free roam of the house and are not allowed to be on the stairs
...Can't play with toys that have small parts
...Have specific things that they can and cannot eat
...Have regular bathroom habits
...Cannot be left unsupervised
...Cry when their lonely
...Cry when their scared
...Need to be taught manners
...Have special shampoo
...And the list goes on and on. Who would've thought?!
This morning as I was scooping 40 pounds of dog food into some containers, something funny happened. I had just spilled a few pieces on the floor when Caleb came into the room. He asked me what I was doing. I told him what I was doing, but also added " Here's a few extra pieces for you, Sophia, and Ethan to try." He went and found them in the family room and they both came in excitedly. "Where is it?!!" Ethan said eagerly Caleb showed them and before I could say anymore, Ethan popped his piece into his mouth and began crunching away! Ethan handed Sophia hers, but she said "No way! IS it good?" As Ethan finished his piece he stuck out his tongue and said "THAT was disgusting!!" I really didn't think that he would actually eat it, but then again, of course he would! That's the Ethan way. I'm sure that Titus will snack on a few pieces as we are having our teachable moments about the dog dishes, but I don't think I'll be offering it to any guests! Every kid tastes some kind of dog food, don't they? Or maybe cat food, but no one ever gets sick from it! I fed it to my little brother MANY times and I think he even liked the stuff. He preferred Gainsburgers over cat food. Now don't think I was a bad big sister! I did what every good big sister does... trick your younger siblings into doing something that is gross or bad and make them think its fun!! Okay, I guess that IS bad. Sorry Kyle. Maybe that's why you're so big and strong?! Pet food does have a lot of protein! :)

I think crawling time and pulling up time is the hardest of all. And they don't yet understand, "Titus, if you pull on that it will fall on you". Sounds like a good, hectic time to get a puppy to me. THen you can just have training boot camp and get it all over with. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember specifically ever tasting dog food, but I caught Anna trying it for the first time the other day - she didn't care much for it!
