Never bored--Captain Caleb

Recently, I've been in conversations with various people and the subject of boredom has come up. My first response it "Bored? I haven't been bored in years! Can someone explain to me the meaning of that again?" .
One afternoon while all of the other children were napping, Caleb decided that he'd go outside and play something, anything, he would not dare say he was bored! If one of the children tells me that they're bored they know that I have some sort of "project" that probably includes cleaning something that I'll give them to do. Since it was a warm day Caleb asked if he could play in the water. That was fine with me, so off he went.
About 30 minutes later, I looked outside to see how he was doing. That's when I saw the mind of an 8 year old hard at work! Sailing, sailing, over the ocean blue! I am so glad that we've not raised a bunch of vid-iots (that's what happens to children when you put them in front of any movie. The spaced out look, the slowed breathing, the open mouth, you get the idea) I'm so glad to see his creative mind whirling and working well, even if that means he's using our cooler for his pirate ship!
