Good Medicine

I know it's been a week since Memorial Weekend, but I still have to post a few pictures from our most excellent weekend!
We had a fun filled weekend! We spent it at Uncle Boince & Aunt Phyllis McCain's home in Terre Haute, Indiana. Brian's cousin Charlotte, her husband Nick, and their 2 children Hayden and Nicholas were also there. I think that the children spent more time playing on the swing set than any other activity! It seems that they were there from morning 'til night! Saturday when it was 90 degrees outside they played in the sprinkler and even then they aimed the sprinkler at the swing set so they could still play in the water and swing!
Sophie and Hayden were pretty much joined at the hip for the entire weekend. They played all manner of "girl things", dolls, making pictures, mothering their brothers (or trying to), and the above mentioned swing set. There was an official announcement that they were "Best Friends"! What a blessing for them to have such special time together!
We saw the truth of God's word lived out this weekend. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine... Psalm 17:11 Many of you know that Aunt Phyllis has been struggling with her health for almost the last year. After months of set backs and recuperation she is getting stronger all the time. Uncle Boice recently had surgery on his knee also and was recovering while we were there. We can see the hand of the Lord as they both are feeling better. Having all of the family for this weekend could've been very overwhelming for them, but Praise the Lord it was not! The children all got along so famously and were so sweet to each other. The adults enjoyed each other and helped out to fix meals, maintain cleanliness and clean clothes, and to keep the peace in the flurry of activity. It was a joyful time for all. It was the kind of tired that you don't mind getting because the time was so sweet. It was good medicine.
We are looking forward to the next time we can all get together.

  1. My daughter was impressed with the swing set. I was looking at this when she walked up and said, "You took a picture of our swing set!" Ours looks exactly like this one.

  2. I hope my comment works this time, I've tried to post one a few times, only to have blogger flip out on me! :| Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, it certainly is true that a merry heart does a wonder of good....better than a medicine, I say! Praise the Lord for great family.

  3. How fun! How great that the kids all got to be together (and the grown-ups, too)! I'm glad Caleb is getting "cousin experiences" one way or another, since they haven't come the way he hoped for! ;O)
