Look Mama LOOK!

We had such excitement around our house yesterday!
Around 10:30 a.m. all manner of machinery, dump trucks and tractors began pulling onto our street. Of course, EVERYONE had to rush and see what was happening. Actually, nothing was happening because after all of the vehicles parked along the sides of our street all of the workmen inside just sat in their trucks and ate lunch, played music, and slept for the next hour and a half! Our tax dollars at work :{
Finally, around 12:45 p.m. they all started getting into their machinery and pulling trucks here and backing tractors around. The kids were TOTALLY absorbed in all of the activity! They all set up chairs and blankets in the front yard and driveway so they could watch what was going on. I served up lunch outside so that no one had to miss anything.
The purpose of all of this was to tear up our road so that it can be repaved. I didn't really think that it was so bad, but that just goes to show how much I know about roads!
The machine in the first picture ground up a few inches of the road and then it conveyered it into a dump truck. It was very interesting and dusty! Now we have our road all torn up and who knows when they'll get around to fixing it, but I'm sure that will make for another interesting day!
I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend. We plan to spend it with family in Indiana.
